Quick and easy points can make a huge difference in a tight game. Coach Rice shows you how his UNLV team puts these kind of points on the board using their transition offensive schemes and early offense strategies.
Coach Rice first discusses how he trains his team for his up tempo offense, with emphasis on attacking the weakest areas of your opponent. This is particularly successful with post players that a slow to get back on transition defense. Next, Coach Rice uses on court demonstrations and a clinic atmosphere to show you transition and shooting drills that he uses with his team every day. Learn the "Nugget Drill", Which will teach players how to push the ball and attack, as well as find the best shot in the open court. This drill includes multiple scenarios like 5-on-5, 5-on-4, 4-on-3, 3-on-2, 2-on-1, and full court-situations.
Coach Rice then demonstrates his basic transition set. This set will enable his team to run a variety of easy to understand half-court offenses or sets.
In the Basic Package a rip screen will get your shooters open and a baseline screen will enable entry into the post. In the Reverse, your best shooters will get opportunities for three point shots while cuts create easy scoring possibilities. Finally, in the Flash, your post players will get involved in the offense from the high post. All of your players will have opportunities to participate in these sets and Rice shows how each player moves throughout the possession.
