192 consecutive wins ('96-'00) is #4 most all-time nationally!

Regardless of what offense you employ, matching it to your personnel needs to be a priority. The 5-1 offensive system is a favorite of Coach Knuth's. It puts five attackers on the floor with one setter. A key to this offense is having a setter that is a leader, setter and blocker on your team. Advantages are the consistent sets in the offense, where attackers do not have to adjust to different setters; a specialization of positions and the setter can also block. Specialized skills must be established to give this offense the edge it needs, and Knuth puts his team through these skill workouts for you. Knuth covers the 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 sets. Setting the offense is a drill that creates consistency for each of the five sets. Front and back row attacks are part of this offensive package as well. Multiple drills and in-depth teaching make this a complete look at the 5-1 offense, which will allow for easy installation for you. 55 minutes. 2007. DVD.

Winning Strategy for the 4-2 Offensive System
with John Knuth,
Marysville HS (MI) Head Coach;
over 1,000 coaching victories,
2X National Coach of the Year;
9X State Champs (including eight in a row);
192 consecutive wins ('96-'00) is #4 most all-time nationally!

The 4-2 offensive system features four attackers and two setters. Advantages to this offense are: It is a simple offense, the setter is always in the front row, it can utilize immobile setters and the offense can run with less accurate passing. Coach Knuth's basic alignment calls for two front line players watching the serve. On the serve, they rotate back to their positions, putting the setter back in the middle. Another alignment is the International 4-2 set, sometimes called the right side 4-2. The International is a quicker offense and sets are in front of the dominant hand. Knuth covers the five person serve receive, the "U" serve receive and the three-person serve receive. The 4-2 numbering system goes from 1 to 5, depending on how high and how far out the set up is. Front row attack drills are demonstrated as well as back row attack drills. Knuth includes the offense vs. zero drill, which is a key part of practicing this offense. 56 minutes. 2007. DVD.

Winning Strategy for the 6-2 Offensive System

The 6-2 Offensive System relates to having six attackers and two setters in the offense. According to Coach Knuth, the benefits of this offense are that it keeps three attackers in the front row, utilizes two setters that are also skilled attackers and the coach can substitute shorter players in the front row. Another advantage is that after rotation libero can be replaced by a defender. Knuth explains all of the basic offensive positions and the various rotations they make in the offense. Serve receive is an important part of the 6-2 offense. He also demonstrates three set plays out of this offense. A good drill package accompanies the teaching points and keys. Drills help set the offense, and develop front and back row attacks. Knuth does an excellent job of analyzing each play option, highlighting the responsibility of each position. Overall, this is a complete look at this winning offensive attack. 65 minutes. 2007. DVD.

The Man-Up Defensive System
with Gwen Egbert,
Papillion-La Vista South HS (NE) Head Girl's Volleyball Coach;
Has coached 3 State Championships and has coached 5 Runner-up finishes;
All-conference player for University of Nebraska

If your team has a strong left side and a slow setter that plays close to the net, the Man Up Defense is for you! From the Middle attacker position, Egbert's team demonstrates the alignments and adjustments to make from this spot. In the middle set-up, the left side should commit every time. Your set-up may change depending on the skill level of players in certain positions. The right side attack is another segment of this defense that is covered in detail. Boxes are used at the net to simulate game like situations. This defense is able to defend any situation where the ball comes off the net. Egbert also presents tactics against the wide strategy when the defense attacks from the right side. The ability to run down the ball is essential for this defense to be successful. 57 minutes. 2007. DVD.

The Perimeter Defensive System
with Gwen Egbert,
Papillion-La Vista South HS (NE) Head Girl's Volleyball Coach;
Has coached 3 State Championships and has coached 5 Runner-up finishes;
All-conference player for University of Nebraska

The perimeter defense is a reading defense where players read the hitter before making their decision. This defense works well with a back row attack and is advantageous for a smaller team that is void of big blockers. Using high school athletes, Egbert uses a practice setting to break down each position. This defense is demonstrated from the left side and middle attacker positions. Each position creates a different set of slides and position adjustments by the perimeter defenders. Egbert includes a number of drills, including the 10 Ball drill, which works on rotating in the defense and covering spots; as well as the Two Touch 10 ball, which fosters good communication, hard movement, and rotation. Egbert feels that these 10 ball drills must be part of every practice to keep your defense sharp. This defense may be a perfect fit for your team and boost your team's defensive productivity! 48 minutes. 2007. DVD.

The Rotation Defensive System
with Gwen Egbert,
Papillion-La Vista South HS (NE) Head Girl's Volleyball Coach;
Has coached 3 State Championships and has coached 5 Runner-up finishes;
All-conference player for University of Nebraska

Called the "red defense," the rotation style defensive system may be very beneficial to your program, based on your personnel; you must have a strong middle blocker, two left sides that can cover a lot of court and a middle back that is good at moving to her left. This defense is particularly good when the opponent is attacking the left side. In a practice setting, Egbert shows all of the slides and adjustments when the ball comes from the left side attacker. A 2 set, or middle attack, creates a different alignment (it is demonstrated). The right side attacker presents yet another alignment and set of adjustments from base set. The best way to teach this defense is from the boxes, allowing the coach to place the ball from different positions at the net. Egbert does an excellent job of detailing the rotation on each different situation. Also included are a number of drills to work each area of this defense. 51 minutes. 2007. DVD.
