Winning with the 4-3 Defense Winning with the 4-3 Defense
Description
with Larry Kerr, UCLA Defensive Coordinator; former Colorado State Defensive Coordinator. Coach Kerr has turned UCLA into one of the top defensive football teams in the nation using the 4-3 defense. In his first season with UCLA, the Bruins defense ranked 18th nationally and second in the Pac-10 in total defense and tied for the league lead in fewest defensive touchdowns allowed. In this DVD, Kerr highlights the advantages of the 4-3 defense: Flexibility, the ability to make adjustments to one back sets and to adjust easily to two tight end sets, and the ability to disguise line stunts and blitzes. He covers the seven man front by detailing the base alignments and gap responsibilities of each player. Kerr uses game footage to show the 4-3 using the seven man front versus the flow play, flood play, ace set, trey set, deuce formation, and one back set. Using additional footage, he details the eight man front versus the run and then the pass, highlighting the two-back, deuce, trey and ace sets. As a bonus, Kerr draws up how to defend the spread, option, and Wing-T. Coach Kerr concludes by sharing practice film of the four key drills (run and hit, giant lift tackle, string out tackle, and pursuit drill) he uses in to make this defense effective! 90 minutes. 2005.
